Rotten Girl 51: Shocking Affairs

Although I found it absurd, and though the idea of a breakup date seemed unreliable, I mustered the courage to tell Bo Xi about going to the music concert together on the weekend. To my surprise, he agreed without hesitation. He apologized sincerely over the phone, admitting that he had acted impulsively and now realized it was inappropriate. He wished me happiness for the future and so on.

His words left me dumbfounded, and I couldn't help but feel that I had misjudged him, perhaps overestimating his stubbornness. Maybe Bo Xi had the strength to heal his heart and soul on his own. My current behavior seemed to be rubbing salt into the wound.

Regret started to creep in.

However, that feeling of regret vanished completely when I saw Bo Xi in person.

We agreed to meet directly at the entrance of the concert venue, just as Worm had suggested. The popularity of Jiao Jiao, the singer, was no joke. Despite it being a small-scale music concert, the atmosphere was incredibly lively, with crowds of people and a festive ambiance.

Bo Xi was standing by the entrance, studying the gigantic poster of Jiao Jiao. When he noticed my arrival, he smiled and said, "Ning Ning, is this the singer you like?"

I felt a slight embarrassment because I couldn't explain to Bo Xi why it was necessary for us to attend this concert. So, Worm had conveniently let Bo Xi misunderstand and believe that I was also a "Jiao Jiao fan."

I tried to get some opinions from him by asking, "What do you think of this girl?"

Bo Xi paused, stroking his chin, before turning to me and saying earnestly, "Ning Ning, you used to complain that we didn't share the same interests and that I didn't appreciate the things you liked. But this girl..."

Bo Xi pointed at the cheerful, large poster of Jiao Jiao and gave his evaluation, "She has big eyes, a small nose, a delicate chin, and a cute cherry-like mouth. She's exactly the type I like! She's lovely, petite, and evokes sympathy. I even listened to her songs earlier, and they were truly..."

I paused for a moment, unable to bear listening to what comes next. My heart felt heavy and wounded. Indeed, whether it was three years ago or three years later, your despicable taste hasn't changed a bit, Bo Xi! I can't believe I sympathized with you! I can't believe I agreed to this so-called "breakup date" with you. Disgusting!

While I was feeling contempt, the screams of the fans of Jiao Jiao echoed:

"Ah, here she comes, here she comes!"

"I love you, Jiao Jiao! I love you!"

"Jiao Jiao, please give us a glimpse, come down!"

As a magnificent red car pulled into the TV station, the crowd surged forward. As for me, I had no intention of joining the crowd. Bo Xi, out of courtesy, didn't rush forward either.

"Ning Ning, what's wrong with you?"

"...Shouldn't we go in now? The music concert is about to start."

What a stare! Do I really need to go in? It would be better if you went in alone, wouldn't it? Maybe later Jiao Jiao will recognize you, and your memory will come back, and we can reenact a scene from the fairytale. Bo Xi noticed that my expression wasn't too pleasant and coughed, looking somewhat troubled. "Are you... upset that I didn't go after her just now? Alright then, I'll help you get an autograph later."

Keep staring! I pouted in anger, it was your own desire, why drag me into this? I glared at Bo Xi and walked away, flipping my sleeves. Bo Xi, seeing my reaction, called out persistently from behind, "Ning Ning, where are you going? The concert is about to start."

"To the restroom!"

I don't know if it was out of frustration or if I truly had a terrible sense of direction, but I wandered around the TV station in circles and couldn't find the restroom. Bo Xi, with a sorrowful face, pointed his finger and said, "Ning Ning, why don't we go in first? There must be a restroom in the studio."

"You can go in by yourself, I..."

I hadn't finished my sentence when Bo Xi suddenly widened his eyes and stared behind me, grabbing my arm and exclaiming, "Ning Ning, look!"

"What's so good to—" The word "look" was on the tip of my tongue, but I couldn't utter a sound. I followed the direction indicated by Bo Xi's finger and looked over. At the back door of the TV station, a silver-gray sedan gracefully pulled up. A sunglasses-wearing beauty emerged from the car, wearing a red mini dress with a bobbed hairstyle and captivating slender legs. This... isn't that Jiao Jiao?

Damn it, so that's what's going on. Jiao Jiao has really grown a lot in these years! Knowing that there would be too many fans at the front entrance and fearing any accidents, she decided to employ a diversionary tactic.

Seeing this, Bo Xi laughed behind me and sneered, "Ning Ning, it seems that the singer you like is not only beautiful but also clever!"

Just as I was about to turn around to scorn him, I saw the driver's door of the sedan open as well. In an instant, a figure so familiar it couldn't be more familiar stepped out of the car.

My heart skipped a beat, and I blinked my eyes, hardly believing what I was seeing. No wonder this sedan looked so familiar, but... it couldn't be true. How could Jiao Jiao know Ren Han? How could Ren Han possibly be escorting her to the concert?!

My heart raced up to my throat, and I desperately wanted to approach to verify, but my feet seemed rooted to the ground before I even took a step.

—Ren Han circled over to Jiao Jiao with a smile.

—He leaned down with a smile.

—Jiao Jiao responded shyly.

They were embracing and kissing!

For a moment, the world went dark.

Jiao Jiao, what else can I say?

Is it true... that we are destined to be at odds? You have to snatch and play with every man I like to find satisfaction?

Three years ago, three years later, it's always the same. It turns out the demon never left me, infidelity lurks everywhere.

Ha! Ren Han, I misjudged you.

Naturally, I had no mood left to watch Jiao Jiao's concert. Leaving Bo Xi behind, I simply said I wanted to be alone for a while and started wandering aimlessly in the streets. I thought I needed time and space to calm down, to think about the causes and consequences of what went wrong, and to consider if there was something I owed Jiao Jiao from childhood to the extent that whenever I liked something, she had to have a share of it for her satisfaction.

This time, Bo Xi was very obedient, perhaps because he saw that I was genuinely in a bad mood, so he didn't follow me. I walked and stopped without knowing where to go or what I wanted to do, until I suddenly realized that I was standing at the entrance of the restaurant he had chosen, just as the agreed time with Ren Han was approaching.

Since I came... I shouldn't miss this opportunity. Who knows, today might not only be a breakup date with Bo Xi but also with the devil himself, Ren Han.

I entered the restaurant, and Ren Han was already there, being attended to by the waiter as he ordered. He glanced at me casually and said, "Why are you so late?"

There was a hint of reproach in his tone. If it were any other time, I would have playfully rushed over with a smile, but at this moment, I couldn't muster a smile no matter what. Ren Han didn't pay too much attention to my demeanor and happily tapped the table after placing the order.

"Bring it over."

I stared at Ren Han's smiling face as he extended his hand, feeling a mixture of emotions. This smile was no longer innocent. Just a few hours ago, when you dropped off Jiao Jiao at the television station, you had the same smile. Thinking about it, I clenched my fist slightly and my voice became hoarse.

"Bring what?"

Ren Han frowned at my words. "Bai Ning, you still haven't remembered what today is?"

I laughed. I didn't know what today was before, but now I'm clear. It's our anniversary of breaking up. Before I spoke, the waiter hurried over and whispered something in Ren Han's ear. Ren Han, the Demon King nodded in response, and only then did two other people bring the dishes.

I appeared indifferent, not caring about what food was served. But what was in front of me was too dazzling and radiant that I couldn't look away.

In front of me was a small cream cake, simple in design, and it didn't seem like it would taste particularly special. What made it special was that on top of the cake sat two three-dimensional teddy bears made of chocolate. The two little bears were embracing each other, and all four paws held a sparkling diamond ring.

My heart skipped a beat, and I stared at Ren Han across the table, puzzled. Ren Han, feeling uneasy, coughed and spoke with an unusual and gentle tone. "I knew you, this fool, wouldn't be able to guess what today is. I've made up my mind. Today... cough cough... happens to be the three-month mark since we started living together... On the first day, you came to my place, I told you that living together is a trial period. The labor contract law stipulates that the probationary period cannot exceed three months, so... cough cough... you can be a regular employee now."

?_?

My mind was still in a state of confusion, unable to digest what Ren Han had said, let alone connect it with the scene I had witnessed a few hours ago. What does it mean? Passed? Regular employee?

Ren Han casually took a sip of water, glanced at me with a slightly annoyed look, and then averted his gaze outside the window, saying, "Why are you staring at me like that? Don't expect me to... cough! propose or kneel down right here. Are you still looking? Hurry up, take off the ring and eat the cake!"

I instinctively lowered my head to look at the diamond ring. Under the dim lighting, it was sparkling so brightly that it hurt my eyes, causing tears to slowly trickle down. Yes, it was really good. I truly wished to clap for you, Ren Han.

In the afternoon, it was Jiao Jiao, and in the evening, it is Bai Ning. Ren Han, is that how you planned it?

A few hours ago, were you in the car giving Jiao Jiao a similar ring? Did you whisper to her while holding her, saying that she is now a regular employee too?

"Ning Ning?" Seeing that I remained silent, Demon King Ren finally realized that something seemed off. He stood up, crouched in front of me, and his large palm trembled as it gently stroked my cheek.

"Silly girl, why are you crying? I... you know I don't like these formalities. Alright, I admit my mistake. There are still flowers, I had the restaurant prepare them in advance..." He comforted me softly while closing his eyes, but all I could think of was the scene I witnessed today, imagining Jiao Jiao once being tenderly held in this embrace. It made my stomach churn.

Using all my strength, I pushed Ren Han away, grabbed the water glass from the table, and splashed it at him. And so, the clichéd scene that often happens in restaurants all over the world unfolded—the staff of the restaurant, which had been observing the situation, let out faint gasps. Ren Han's hair was still dripping with water as he looked up at me, disbelief written on his face, and asked in a puzzled tone, "Bai Ning?"

I smirked and coldly laughed.

"Ren Han, wake up. I came here to tell you that I've reconciled with Bo Xi."
