At the writing desk, two people sat together on a chair. The man, with an elegant demeanor, calmly held a brush to paint, while a graceful and attentive beauty sat beside him, earnestly grinding ink for him. She smiled gently, her features like a painting.
What a scene of a handsome man and a beautiful woman deeply in love.
Mo Yi Huai's gaze turned cold for a moment, but the icy aura disappeared instantly.
"First Brother has come." Mo Liancheng lifted his head slightly, smiling faintly at the person standing at the door. He glanced at Yu Hao, giving him a signal.
"Tan'er greets the First Prince." Qu Tan'er's response was not slow. As soon as Mo Liancheng spoke, she followed suit. However, unlike the usual graceful courtesy, she remained seated. It was because Mo Liancheng had shifted his entire weight onto her, leaving her with no chance to move.
Should she be happy about his trust, or lament that he dragged her into this mess?
"No need for formalities. I didn't expect the two of you to be so close. It is truly admirable," Mo Yi Huai said with a light laugh. He walked slowly into the room and took a seat in the guest position on the right side of the study. His gaze intentionally or unintentionally swept over Qu Tan'er.
"It was this Prince who treated Tan'er well, that she was able to tie the knot with Eighth Prince is indeed a blessing, making this First Prince envious," Qu Tan'er replied with a shy smile, her lashes slightly lowered, a perfect portrayal of a gentle and demure lady.
However, she couldn't help but feel disgusted. Wasn't this statement a bit too much?
"Eighth Prince is indeed fortunate," Mo Yi Huai said with a touch of discomfort.
"Haha, I feel the same way. However, First Brother, is there something important that brought you here today?" Mo Liancheng laughed heartily, smoothly shifting to the main topic. Although the wound on his shoulder was slightly hurting, he didn't even furrow his brow.
"Without you mentioning it, this prince almost forgot. Last night, there was an assassin in my mansion. When the guards chased him, they said the assassin entered the Eighth Prince's mansion. They didn't dare disturb the Eighth Prince in the middle of the night, so they waited outside the mansion, but they didn't see the assassin come out. Therefore, this Prince specially came to ask the Eighth Prince if anything unusual happened in the mansion last night?" Mo Yi Huai looked at Mo Liancheng with a meaningful gaze, perhaps observing his reaction.
"What? There's such a thing?" Mo Liancheng looked at him in shock, completely unprepared for this. In the middle of his sentence, he suddenly turned his gaze to Qu Tan'er, asking, "Princess, did you see any assassins last night? Or hear any disturbances?"
"There were no assassins, but..." Qu Tan'er began.
"But what?" Mo Yi Huai's eyes narrowed, closely staring at Qu Tan'er.
"Oh, it's just that Tan'er only saw His Highness. Otherwise, why would I be here with the Prince painting at this time?" Qu Tan'er lightly chuckled, her words appearing casual and carefree.
Mo Yi Huai glanced at her, a hint of disappointment flashing in his eyes.
"If we're talking about assassins, Tan'er hasn't heard any reports from the servants. I wonder if the First Prince might have been mistaken. Everything in the mansion was fine last night. If you don't believe me, you can ask the Eighth Prince." Qu Tan'er spoke calmly, immediately lifting her head to look at Mo Liancheng.
Mo Liancheng was also looking at her tenderly.
As their eyes met softly, it seemed like an overflowing love story.
