AMMIH Chapter 13.2 -- It's Official

Qiao Yin still had not yet managed to react. Usually, she was a very lively person, but now she stood completely frozen being kissed by him. She had no idea what was on her mind when she kissed him last time. Xiao Yang moved closer, holding her shoulders, slightly squeezing, which caused her reflexively open her mouth and he used the opportunity to hook her tongue, immediately tasting the sweet taste of the fried buns she had brought over.

Xiao Yang wasn't very surprised. Of course, she had eaten them at this time. Qiao Yin finally reacted, propping up on tiptoes as her cool arms wrapped around his waist. Her skin was cool and she had a well-proportioned figure with just enough flesh. She was soft and cool, and unexpectedly comfortable. But since they were still in a public place, Xiao Yang let go of her after a while and looked at her panting face. On seeing that her face was still a bit pale, he knit his brows.

"Go back and get some more sleep, dark circles are coming out." He said and without a change in expression, he reached into his pocket and took out the key to his house and handed it to her, not forgetting to explain, "I won't be going home in the next few days, you can go take the tortoise home."

Qiao Yin was normal again now and quickly took the key with a smile: "How come you trust me going in and out of your home?“

"The last time I entered my home, someone even accused me of trespassing into the apartment." Xiao Yang said, seeming not to have realized the playfulness in her words. he put his hand in his pocket, and looking at her calmly as he added, "What, now that the key is 'returned' to you, you're not happy?"

"That's because I drank too much..." Qiao Yin said, blushing a little.

"You actually know to be ashamed." There was a bit of disdain in his eyes. Xiao Yang's face was calm but he didn't show any mercy when he spoke, "I thought you didn't even have basic shame."

Qiao Yin pursed her lips, pretending to be angry, but the next second she burst into laughter. She felt so sweet inside, how could she argue with him? She only showed the key in her hand, her eyes were curved like crescent moons as she slyly tested, "It's just the first day of formally dating, but I already have the key to my boyfriend's place, isn't this a privilege?"

"You're acting as if our four years of being neighbors didn't exist ." Although he attacked her logic, he did not deny the label "boyfriend". He raised his chin a little and motioned to her, "Go back quickly, I still have to work."

Nodding her head like a chick pecking rice, Qiao Yin smiled and said goodbye to him. Before leaving, she looked back at him. Her eyes were bright as she smiled like a suspicious cat: "Remember to rest."

Xiao Yang stood there looking at her and slightly nodded to show that he had heard it.

Qiao Yin quickly walked to the bus station and then took out her phone to message Huang Ling, to immediately share the good news, "Happiness came too suddenly! Honey, I decided to buy a lot of delicious food and go back to cook a big meal for you!"

Huang Ling, who was still asleep at her apartment, heard the notification and groggily felt around for her phone. After feeling around for a long time, she found her phone and then checked the message and then plopped back on her pillow, "En, you should reward me..."

Meanwhile, Xiao Yang returned to the lounge to find Yan Cong desperately stuffing the buns in his mouth, the appearance of him stuffing himself was completely indescribable. However, Yan Cong was not bothered about Xiao Yang's contemptuous glance at all, when he saw he had returned, he quickly swallowed the bun in his mouth and asked, "You thanked her, right?"

"A big thank you." Xiao Yang's answer was as lukewarm as before. He turned and noticed that Yan Cong seemed to want to ask something, so he glared daggers at him to shut him up, "Quickly eat, we still need to look over the autopsy report later."

Twenty minutes later, they received the autopsy report. Just as they speculated, the deceased had suffered a sexual assault before her death and parts of her body had been wounded in a vise, leaving more than fifty wounds. The time of death was estimated to be twelve hours before the body was found and the cause of death was suffocation. The strangulation on the neck and the binding marks on the wrists and ankles were all done by hemp rope used before the death. In addition, the deceased's nails also contained the DNA of a male.

"The identity of the deceased has also been determined. Her name is Wang QiuLan. Her family has been looking for her for several days, saying that she went to a job fair in the city to find a job the day before yesterday, but did not return home that night. Her social relationships are relatively simple, and she has never stayed out all night before. So most likely she was taken away at the job fair that day." Yan Cong handed Xiao Yang the photo of the deceased that had just been printed out.

Xiao Yang glanced at the photos and quickly gave out orders, "You are responsible for understanding the situation with Wang Qiulan's close relatives. I will go check on the job fair."

"Okay." Yan Cong responded with a nod.

Since it just happened two days ago, clues could be found in the job fair right away. Wang Qiulan had been very eager to find a job so she stood out to many of the staff members and three of them last saw her leaving the job fair with a middle-aged man. Xiao Yang took the three people to the police station to sit with a sketch artist to create a portrait of the suspect based on their descriptions.

Yan Cong happened to come out of the interrogation room and walked towards him while clutching his head: "No progress. Wang QiuLan has a boyfriend, Xu Chang and they have always had a good relationship. He has been ruled out by preliminary investigation but we still need to check him against the DNA." He stopped next to Xiao Yang and looked down to see that he already had the portrait in his hand, "Huh, the suspect's portrait has come out?"

"We have asked Xiao Zhang and the others to wait at the job fair." Xiao Yang informed as he showed him the portrait.

"This case is a big deal, it has already been reported on the news this morning. If the murderer sees the news, he will probably not go to the job fair again." Yan Cong said, gritting his teeth as he stared at the portrait for a few seconds and then somewhat regretfully said, "When we saw the reporters there, we should have warned them...."

Xiao Yang did not comfort him and simply took the portrait from his hand and put it on the table, and expressionlessly made the next arrangement, "Go eat first, and wait for the results of the DNA verification tomorrow morning. Excluding the suspicion on Xu Chang, we will need to investigate that community again."

But Xiao Yang could not have expected that before he and Yan Cong could arrive at the community next to the resort the next morning, Qiao Yin and Huang Ling had already arrived there. However they didn't come to investigate the case, they came to see Zhou ChengZe—he took them home the night when the body was found, and afterwards, he invited them to eat at his new house, which coincidentally was located in the community next to the resort.

By the time Qiao Yin pulled her car into the parking lot, it was just 8 o'clock in the morning. Qiao Yin removed her car key and checked her water and suddenly felt a headache: "We shouldn't have come so early..."

"Who would have expected that we would beat this morning's rush hour traffic..." Huang Ling commented from the passenger seat as she enjoyed fried dough sticks and soy milk. She continued with slurred speech as she chewed the food in her mouth, "Maybe I won't even be able to eat this meal. According to Zhou ChengZe’s character, he must have gotten up early in the morning to prepare. To be honest, I’m worried that he will use sodium nitrite as salt in the dishes... Later don't mention your relationship with Xiao Yang. Otherwise, it is very likely that we will not see the moon tonight after eating."

The radio just happened to be broadcasting the weather for the day and it turned out that tonight will be rainy. Huang Ling cursed in a low voice while Qiao Yin nodded and couldn't help but praise her for her powers of prediction: "It seems we are destined to not see the moon tonight."

Huang Ling freed one of her hands and rewarded her with a punch to the arm.

The two playfully fought for a bit and then they finally got out of the car after concluding to walk around the community until Zhou ChengZe contacted them before going up to his house. This community was not large, but fortunately, there was a lot of green, lush vegetation could be seen everywhere. The smaller buildings were mostly obscured by the large trees that grew to be more than ten meters high.

The pair stopped in front of a building to gauge whether a tree hindered the owner's daylight.

It was a pity that their discussion was quickly interrupted by the cry of a child. Beside this building, there was a quiet path paved with pebbles leading to a residential building at the back. It was there that two 12 to 13-year-old girls were standing on the side carrying their schoolbags crying, with a security guard standing beside them with a red face, seemingly wanting to explode in anger but remaining silent.

Qiao Yin exchanged eye contact with Huang Ling, and then stepped forward to ask about the situation: "What's wrong? Why are the children crying?"

It was only after approaching that Qiao Yin noticed that one of the girls was holding a little white rabbit in her arms, while the other girl was carrying a small shovel stained with dirt. Qiao Yin quickly glanced at the hard mud that had been shoveled away by their feet and already guessed what happened.

Sure enough, when the security guard saw her and Huang Ling walking over, his face turned blue and went back to red, and with a very unsightly expression he explained, "They were going to bury the dead rabbit here. The property terms of this neighborhood do not allow it. When I asked them where their parents live, they started to cry."

The cry of the little girl carrying the shovel immediately became even louder. She raised her arm, quite aggrieved, and sulkily said, "Un - uncle is so fierce, he tugged at my arm, it hurts..."

Huang Ling leaned over to take a look, and the girl's arm was red. She pursed her lips and looked at the security guard and said with some reproach in her tone: "If you want to ask, just ask. Why did you take action against a kid?" After speaking, she stroke the heads of the two girls with her delicate eyebrows slightly raised, apparently a little irritated, "The children are so young, what property terms do they understand? Now that they are scared like this, you must at least apologize."

The security guard's thick lips pressed into a line, his face was still reddish-purple as his eyes widened in anger. He didn't show any indication of wanting to apologize at all. Huang Ling got angry when she saw this and pointed at him, her tone hardened: "Where is your work certificate? Take it out and let us have a look. If you don't apologize, I will complain to your property company."

Qiao Yin was quietly watching the whole time and noticed the sudden slight changes in his expression: His nostrils were slightly opened, his nose trembling with his eyebrows tightly knit as if he were suppressing anger. His eyes slightly shook and his two small eyes narrowed. She was surprised, she then looked at his hands. She did not know when his fists were clenched into fists, so hard that the blue veins on the back of his hand were revealed.

"Forget it, it's so early in the morning." Qiao Yin said reassuring Huang Ling, her intuition was telling her that this person was dangerous. She touched the hair of the two little girls and went, "Are you going to school? If you're late you will be scolded by the teacher later. Don't cry anymore, go back, and put the little rabbit at home. When school is over, Mom and Dad will take you to find a place to bury it, okay?"

After saying that, Qiao Yin took out two extra-strong matcha toffee from her pocket and stuffed them into their hands, but the two little girls refused: "Mom said you can't take things from strangers..."

Qiao Yin felt a little awkward with the candy in her hand, and Huang Ling couldn't help but laugh at her: "Look at you with a strange aunt's face."

It was easy to persuade the two children to leave, and by the time that was over, they no longer saw the shadow of the security guard.

Huang Ling snorted, "We really let him off easy."
