AMMIH Chapter 10.1 -- The Battle Begins

Qiao Yin finished the remaining half of the pork shoulder alone.

She was in a good mood, even humming as she washed the dishes. After that, she jumped on her bed and picked up her phone, she was just as about to send a text message to Xiao Yang, but then she suddenly stopped and sobered up. After a while of closing her eyes in thought, she changed the recipient of the text message to Yan Cong. She quickly edited the text and sent it: "Officer Yan, this is Qiao Yin. Is Xiao Yang on duty tonight? I have something I want to ask him about, but he was not at home. I sent him a text message and he did not reply. ---Qiao Yin"

It did not take long for Yan Cong to reply, "He is not on duty tonight, but I don't know why he suddenly came to the station. He is sitting right next to me. How about I ask him to call you back?"

He really was lying to her.

She immediately replied: "It's okay, I will wait until he comes back. Thank you, Officer Yan.  ---Qiao Yin"

After sending the message, she put her phone back on the bedside table, switched the air conditioner to sleep mode, and covered herself to sleep. Now she had confirmed it, she knew that one should not pursue people like Xiao Yang too aggressively, otherwise, he might start to detest her and would not mind using any means to scare her away. So in this situation, she should not be too eager. It was better to stay calm for the time being, and from time to time, give him a candy to tease him, making him think that she has given up, then every now and again, the occasional sweet disturbance will itch his heart.

After formulating a strategy, Qiao Yin swiftly went off to dreamland in peace. As soon as Yan Cong finished reading her second text message, he could not help turning his head to ask Xiao Yang: "Eh, Old Xiao, this salt-baked chicken was not made by Lawyer Qiao, so which neighbor did you hook up with?"

Xiao Yang was still twisting the Rubik's Cube and frowned upon hearing this. He raised his head to look at him and asked, "How do you know that she didn't make it?"

"She just sent a text message asking me if you were on duty. She said she wanted to look for you to help with something, but you didn't reply when she texted you." Yan Cong said, chewing on the chicken leg and casually continued, "Who made this chicken? Even though you're so uptight, you've been having quite the luck with the ladies recently..."

Xiao Yang vaguely guessed the situation so took out his mobile phone to check. As expected, he didn't receive any text messages. "She didn't text me." He then asked Yan Cong, "What did you tell her?"

Finally, Yan Cong realized that there was something wrong with his tone. Yan Cong put down his chicken legs, frowned, and then replied: "I said you were not on duty, but you were at the station..." After thinking about it, he still couldn't figure out what the issue was here, "Uhh, what's going on?"

"Yan Cong." Xiao Yang said glancing at him with a blank expression, his tone retained its usual calmness, "When you are not handling a case, you are a pig of a teammate."

"..." Yan Cong thought that he was really innocent, but he could never win an argument against Xiao Yang so simply lowered his head and continued to eat the chicken.

On the other hand, Xiao Yang subconsciously thought to send a text message to Qiao Yin to ask about the situation. But after thinking about it again, he dismissed the idea. He intuitively thought that Qiao Yin was the kind of person who only needed a little sun to shine. If a text message was sent at this time, she would become cocky. So he stopped himself, and upon seeing Yan Cong had finished the salt-baked chicken, he took the lunch box and returned home.

That night he had trouble falling asleep. Xiao Yang looked at his phone three times in a row, finally seeing that Qiao Yin didn't do anything, he closed his eyes and eventually fell asleep.

Early the next morning, as soon as he got up to brush his teeth, he heard the sound of the door across the hall as Qiao Yin left to head to work. It was actually half an hour earlier than her usual time. He checked his phone again after washing up and saw that still had not taken the initiative to send any text messages. Was she repelled? Xiao Yang raised his eyebrows and then put the phone in his pocket and went to make his breakfast.

In the next week, his relationship with Qiao Yin seemed to have returned to its state before her drunk night. Their working hours were often different, moreover, there was no interaction in private, so the chances of them meeting was almost zero. He didn't know if she was angry or pretending to be stupid, but she didn't take the initiative to contact him even when she was home on the weekend. She also didn't seem to care about the lunchbox that was still with him, she did not even ask for it back.

This made Xiao Yang relax a little bit. He remembered that she had suddenly kissed him that day. After learning that he had left halfway on purpose, it was normal for her to feel embarrassed and not want to pursue him anymore.

He would occasionally check Qiao Yin's friend moments on WeChat. And it seemed she was behaving the same as usual, further confirming to him that she had given up.

But on the second Wednesday morning, Xiao Yang realized that he had underestimated the enemy too much. He was on the morning shift and went out at 7 o'clock as usual. But he didn't expect to find a straight black umbrella hanging on his doorknob as soon as he opened the door.

There was also a sticky note was on the umbrella. Xiao Yang raised his eyebrow and picked it up to read. It turned out that it really was Qiao Yin's neat and beautiful handwriting: "There was an alert that there will be heavy rain today. Remember to take an umbrella when you go out, otherwise next time there will be a dish called Luo TangJi. ---Qiao Yin"

**(Note: Luo TangJi is a dish, it's directly translated as drenched chicken, basically she is saying that he will be completely soaked, like a drenched chicken if he doesn't bring an umbrella.) **

She still hasn't give up? He put the note in his pocket and went back into his apartment. He took out the lunch box from before, put it in a plastic bag, and then went to hang it on her doorknob, along with the umbrella.

With that done, he sent her a cold text message: "The lunch box and umbrella are left at your door."

Then, without waiting for her reply, he went down the stairs and went to work. Xiao Yang took out his cell phone again when he arrived at the station to check on her reply: "Mmm, ok." Two simple words, her attitude was not much more enthusiastic than his.

After squinting his eyes for a while, Xiao Yang's brain unconsciously brought forward one the phrase: Loosen the reins, only to grasp them better.

Are you ready to fight a long war? He spun his phone in his hand and then put it into his trouser pocket. Alright, he will also ignore her tactics.

So for the next two days, neither of them contacted the other again. Until Saturday at noon, a few hungry policemen were gathered together, and abnormally they did not assign one of them to go get their lunch. After waiting for a long time, Xiao Yang at his desk, pulled his necktie, finally a little impatient, "Whose turn is it to buy lunch today?"

"It's already booked, it will be delivered soon." Yan Cong said turning his head to grin at him.

Seeing the weird smile,  Xiao Yang couldn't help raising his eyebrows: "Delivered?"

As soon as he said that, Yan Cong suddenly shouted: "Hey, here it comes!" After shouting, he quickly stood up and excitedly went to welcome it, not to mention enthusiastically so.

Xiao Yang turned, only to see Qiao Yin.
