AMMIH Chapter 8.1 -- Moving Inquiry

Qiao Yin put the phone back into her bag and looked out the window, no longer saying anything.

Seeing that she was not in a good mood, Xiao Yang did not try to start a conversation with her. Qiao JiaYue's voice was not quiet, so he more or less heard the conversation between her and Qiao Yin. Being Qiao Yin's neighbor for four years, Xiao Yang knew that her parents had divorced very early on, but he never heard that she had a sister. Qiao Yin did not seem like the type that would make her relationship with her family become cold, so after thinking about it for a bit, he more or less guessed that Qiao JiaYue was a sister from the same father but a different mother.

Every family has problems, added to the fact that he did not have a close relationship with Qiao Yin, Xiao Yang could not ask about her family problems.

The two of them were quiet for the rest of the ride. When they arrived at the site, it was only when Qiao Yin was getting out of the car that she smiled again, thanking Xiao Yang. "I'm going to the supermarket to buy some stuff." Xiao Yang said as he pointed across the street at the supermarket as she got off and added, "Later, when you come out, call me."

Qiao Yin did not expect that he was going to wait for her to go home together, but she quickly waved her hands surprised at the sudden care she was receiving, "I don't know how long I will take, you don't need to wait for me."

Without a change in his expression, he observed her as he raised his eyebrows and showing contempt at her reaction said, "I'm not especially waiting for you." He said, "After I finish shopping I will leave. If, when you call me, I'm already at home, you will have to take the bus home yourself."

Since he said it so clearly, Qiao Yin decided not to embarrass herself any further.

After bidding him farewell, she immediately entered the site and found the site manager Liu Qiang. Coincidentally it was lunchtime so all the workers were squatting on the side eating their lunch boxes, Liu Qiang was using his hat to fan himself when he was informed that someone was looking for him.

"Mr. Liu," Qiao Yin said walking up to him stretching out a hand for a handshake, "Hello, I'm Wei Jun's lawyer Qiao Yin."

Hearing Wei Jun's name, Liu Qiang's face darkened. He shook her hand with his rough hand and in an unpleasant attitude went, "Did you find the other eighty thousand?"

"We found it, it's in the orphanage." She truthfully answered, slightly taken aback, "Wei Jun donated the eighty thousand to an orphanage."

"What?" Liu Qiang's eyes grew big in surprise, in shock and undisguised anger he went, "He stole my money, then donated it all to the orphanage?!"

"Yes, however, he did not use his name to donate it." Not being frightened by his attitude, Qiao Yin looked at him without blinking, not allowing any expression to escape her, "Mr. Liu, The reason I wanted to come to find you is to explain to you the reason why Wei Jun donated your money to the orphanage." She took out her phone, bringing up Wei Jun's family photo, passing it over to Liu Qiang, "I just returned from Wei Jun's hometown, over there I got to know about some situations. I heard that you adore and love your son a lot, I believe when you see this photo, you will be able to see things differently."

Liu Qiang suspiciously took the phone, as he closely looked at the family photo, the anger that was about to explode became stuck in his throat. He was someone who also had a kid and looking at the photo, he could tell right away something was not right. After staring at the small and skinny kid in the photo for a while, he lifted his head and returned the phone to her, the anger in his face slowly fading, he knit his brows and said, "Go on."

Thus Qiao Yin told him about what she saw and heard, she even allowed Liu Qiang to listen to the voice recording of Wei Jun's teacher. The recording was Qiao Yin's idea, she originally wanted to use it in court to help with Wei Jun's case, however, it seemed to be handy right now.

"The money is already donated to the orphanage, if you want it back, officer Yan will have to report the situation to the higher-ups. As long as you insist, you can still get the money back." She carefully explained to him, her voice was starting to crack, it was very persuasive, "However, the reason why I'm telling you this is that I hope you can forgive Wei Jun. He is still young, he was momentarily muddled and committed a mistake, he should of course be punished. However, if this punishment is ten years, then it might be too severe." she sincerely looked into Liu Qiang's eyes, she thought for a second and then continued, "Your forgiveness will impact the judge's sentence for the crime, thus I really hope that you can help you."

Her appearance that revealed a faint gleam of grief, along with her sincere speech and big watery eyes, of course, called up feelings of compassion in Liu Qiang and he was somewhat moved.

However, it was one hundred thousand, he still could not accept it so quickly. So he pursed his lips and threw out five words, "Let me think about it."

Seeing that he was already swaying, Qiao Yin did not continue to convince him. When she left the site she called Xiao Yang's phone, it turned out that he really did leave her to find her way on her own. He really didn't give her any face, contrary to expectations, Qiao Yin's mood actually became better and she couldn't stop smiling on her way home. It was only when she got on the bus and saw the darkened sky that she sighed.

Compared to those people who fake concern with honeyed words, Xiao Yang's attitude made her feel more secure.

She zoned out watching the passing scenery outside the window and almost missed her stop.
