AMMIH Chapter 1.1 -- Bad Day

    Qiao Yin gripped the key and stood in front of her door, staring at the keyhole as she went through the final struggle of opening the door.

Usually at this time, ten o'clock on Wednesday night, she would have already been at home, just done with a refreshing shower and sat in front of the computer preparing the materials she would need for the next day-- But it's currently the busiest period at the law firm, so every night she has to work really late. Especially now since every case that is presented to the law firm has to be reviewed by every lawyer, in order for them to decide who would pick up the case. That is unless the client specifically requests a particular lawyer to represent them.  

    And due to private matters, Qiao Yin had already wasted a lot of time. Under normal circumstances, she would have been in a rush to enter her apartment to start her work. However, she really wasn't in the mood today.

    Zheng ZiHao had brought up breaking up and she agreed to it. They had been dating for four years and the relationship was stable. They had even already met each other's parents., they only needed to go get the marriage certificate and they would be husband and wife. Yet, it had to be at this time that Zheng ZiHao met his "true" love and wanted to peacefully break up with Qiao Yin.

    It's not that Qiao Yin wanted to break up, but she and Zheng ZiHao were both very rational. When he brought up breaking up, he listed out all his reasons - which all made sense. So even if Qiao Yin wasn't willing, she could only accept it as he had thought of everything. After thinking about it carefully, it's better to break off the relationship earlier rather than later.

    But reason is one thing, while love is another. She was very depressed, she wanted to go out for a drink but unfortunately, she didn't have the time.

    Suddenly, the sound of footsteps came from the down the hall, arresting Qiao Yin's attention. She turned her head and saw Xiao Yang leisurely walk into her view. His height of 184 cm (about 6 ft) in the short hallway gave off the illusion that he might hit his head. It was early June, but the temperature had already begun to soar, but the blue police uniform on him does not have a speck of sweat - it outlined his wide shoulders, thin waist, and long slender legs clad in the blue uniform pants...A figure to be envied by all.

    Qiao Yan also couldn't help but secretly peek at his face a few times. His facial features were sharp and attractive, with a long and upturned nose, full lips, and a pair of cat-like eyes, protected by a pair of single-layered eyelids, all very appealing to the eyes. It's a pity that he usually had on a dark expression with eyebrows knitted together, making him harder to approach. His left hand was searching for his key in his pants pocket, while his right hand was tugging on his tie in an attempt to relax his neck that had been retrained by the necktie all day.

    Qiao Yin put on her usual professional smile and greeted him " hey, Xiao Yang. You're not on night shift today?"

    Taking out his key, Xiao Yang glanced towards her and slightly nodded his head, his attitude was slightly cold as he replied "mmm"

    Having been neighbors for four years, even if there hasn't been much interaction between them, she was still able to tell that he was not in a good mood. Plus the fact that when he walked closer, the smell of cigarettes wafted into her nose. After seeing that his uniform was not in the least bit wet, she could practically conclude that he had smoked downstairs for a while before coming upstairs.

    She then took out her keys and stuck it into the keyhole and finally opened her door. She turned her head and said her goodbye,  "I will go in now. You worked hard, have an early rest."

    Xiao Yang already opened his door as well, but he didn't look back and he still replied with only two words "Good night."
